Sir Roger Penrose (born in 1931) is an English mathematician, mathematical physicist, philosopher of science and Nobel Laureate in Physics.
He is the Emeritus Rouse Ball Professor of Mathematics in the University of Oxford, an emeritus fellow of Wadham College, Oxford, and an honorary fellow of St John's College, Cambridge, and University College London.
Research & Contributions
Penrose is known for his work in mathematical physics, particularly in the areas of general relativity and cosmology. He has made significant contributions to the theory of black holes and the nature of spacetime.
He is also famous for his work on Penrose tiles (non-periodic tilings), the Penrose triangle (an impossible object), and the Penrose interpretation of quantum mechanics.
